Iran Sepandarmazgan
In ancient Persian culture, the mother is symbolized by sepandarmaz or earth and Sepandarmazgan is the celebration day of Love, Friendship and Earth. It is one of the Persian feast based on natural occasions mixed up with happiness. This feast has Zoroastrian roots that date back to the Achaemenid Empire. Sepandarmazgan is known as the Persian “Day of Love”. It has been held just a few days after Valentine to honor and celebrate women and girls. In fact, in this feast, Earth was worshiped and women venerated. In ancient Iran, men respect and obeyed women and give them gifts on Sepandarmazgan day. This shows women’s high status in Iran since ancient times.

Sepandarmazgan is celebrated on the 5th of Esfand (the last month in the Iranian Solar Calendar, usually from the 20th of February to the 20th of March).
